Thanks for visiting again! Let me know if there is anything you would like to see me cover by visiting the Ask Spike page.

February 2009’s addition to Spike’s Pack is Jesse Scott. Jesse is a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix, and he lives with his dad in Mesa, AZ. He has a long tail, but you can’t see it in this picture. Jesse was adopted from the pound when he was just 6 months old, he had been surrendered there and abandoned. When Jesse was found in the pound by his dad, the first thing he did was lay the side of his head in the palm of his dad’s hand and looked right into his eyes when he reached to pet Jesse. His dad instantly fell in love with him and brought him home that day.
Congratulations to all of the nominees this month for their nomination, as well as Jesse for a fine showing in the voting, securing his spot in Spike’s Pack as the addition for February 2009.

Hi – I was looking up “german shepherd mix” in google to see if I could find a dog that looked like mine, and I’m pretty sure Jesse and my dog, George, are twins! I mean not literally, but they look so alike I can’t believe it! I rescued George from a pound in April of 2007 in Peoria, Illinois as a barely 8 week old puppy, and he was found alone, without any parents or siblings. The pound said he was a rottweiler mix, but I couldn’t believe it since he has grown into a very sleek adult. I thought he was a German Shepherd mix, and after seeing Jesse I suppose that he could also be a Rottweiler mix after all! George has some very similar traits as Jesse; a favorite armchair, a love of tug of war and chewing, and definite bed-hogging tendencies. He doesnt like cats though, and his bark is much deeper and more mature than Jesse’s. The resemblance is uncanny – let me know if you want me to send you pictures!
